“Zaporizhkran” has delivered gantry cranes for Africa's largest container port
PrJSC “Zaporozhkran” dispatched the last truckload of gantry cranes for the new terminal in the port of Tangier, Morocco.

It is reported by the CFTS with reference to “Zaporizhkran”.

In total, Konecranes, which includes Zaporizhkran, produced 16 rubber-tired container gantry cranes (RTG). For Konecranes, this project is the first supply of port cranes to Morocco. The customer is the largest container port in the Mediterranean and Africa – Tanger-Med Port Authority.

Work on the order at Zaporizhkran has been going since September 2019, during these seven months the company produced and shipped eight freight trolleys for RTG cranes.

It should be noted that Zaporizhkran is the largest plant in Eastern Europe, which produces industrial cranes of various types. In 2005, the world leader in crane construction - the Finnish corporation Konecranes became the owner of the plant. 95% of the products produced by the plant are exported.

It is to be recalled that, at the end of June, a new container terminal, Tangier-Med II, was opened in the port of Tangier Med, due to which the throughput of the sea harbor increased by 5 million TEU per year, and after the completion of the second stage it will increase by another 1 million TEU. The total container throughput of the port will be 9 million TEU, and after optimization, it may increase up to 10 TEU. Tangier Med II was the third stage of development of the port, located on the African coast of the Strait of Gibraltar. In addition to the new terminal, Tangier-Med I cargo handling port and a large passenger port are already operating here.

CFTS previously reported that Zaporizhkran was working on the order to manufacture a chassis for a gantry crane, which will work at the Chantiers de l’Atlantique shipyard in Saint-Nazaire (France).

Also, Zaporozhkran produced a chassis for the Goliath crane, which became the largest gantry crane operated in the Nordic countries. This crane was installed at the Meyer Turku shipyard in Finland. In addition, the Ukrainian plant shipped 79 port cranes for the fifth largest US port - Virginia.
