Modernization of state-owned coalmining enterprises will bring them to a level of break-even

The measures to increase coal production, modernization of coal mines and bring them to break-even rate were discussed during the meeting of Minister Igor Nasalyk with heads of coal-mining enterprises, representatives of trade union. The meeting was also attended by member of Ukrainian government Mihaylo Bondar.

Igor Nasalyk said that Government pays maximum attention to the coal industry. Repeatedly the question about improving the efficiency of coal-mining enterprises was the subject of consideration at the meeting of Ministry of Energy and Coal.  At the same time the lack of budget funds in support of coal industry led to the deterioration and the loss-making of most of enterprises.  “Without introduction of new ranks, it’s impossible to increase production”-Igor Nasalyk convinced.

The Minister raised the issue of ensuring the fulfillment of coal mining tasks, optimizing the operation of enterprises, modernizing mines and introducing new lava, as well as the efficiency of management, which would increase the production and provide the country with coal. At the same time Igor Nasalik emphasized support and understanding of the problems of the branch by the Prime Minister. The allocation of UAH 1 bn for state guarantees will allow the introduction of new benches and the implementation of projects for the technical re-equipment of mines.

The Minister noted the enterprises that carry out the plans for the extraction of coal. This is the mine "Yuzhnodonbassskaya number 1", the mine them. Sughaya, "Toretskugol", "LvivGroup" and the mine "Nadiya".

Outlining prospects for the development of the coal industry, the Minister noted that the allocation in 2018, 460 million UAH. replacement and modernization of existing equipment will allow the replacement of 1 810 units and elements of the main stationary equipment of mines.

The situation in the coal industry was described by Deputy Minister Anatoly Korzun, outlining the reasons that led to a 2.2-fold decrease in coal mining over the past 5 years. He noted that the technical re-equipment of the treatment and pumping faces and effective management would make it possible to align the situation and bring the majority of enterprises to a break-even level, increase energy efficiency of coal-mining enterprises and reduce the energy intensity of coal mining.
