Ukrainian Steel Belt!

Meet Ukrainian Steel Belt!

American steel belt got rusty last century, but Ukrainian mining and metallurgical center is building momentum again. Prydniprovsky economic area, which includes Zaporizhzhia and Dnipro regions, is a center for industrial products manufacturing in Ukraine. According to the data presented by the State Statistics Service of Ukraine in 2018, the economic area provided 24% of sold industrial products volume of the country. What is more, this figure has been growing constantly since 2010 in absolute value, the same as in conversion per capita.  Mining in industry products index shows constant growth too: +2,2% in Dnipro region and +4,8% in Zaporizhzhia region in 2018.

Apart from pallid statistics that demonstrates achievements in recent past, there are a lot of factors pointing to the fact that the best prospects are in store for the region. It is referred to industry-specific and national infrastructure projects, which have been already carried out in the region. There are some of them:
  1. 24% of the new fields of metallic and non-metallic minerals to be sold by open auctions by the State Service of Geology and Subsoil of Ukraine are located in Prydniprovsky economic area.
  2. Big investments are made to the transport infrastructure of the region. The largest project being carried out now is heavy road mending between Zaporizhzhia and Mariupol, where such powerful metallurgical plants as Azovstal and Mariupol Metallurgical Plant are located. At the same time, carrying capacity of the railway connecting these two cities will grow. The highway Dnipro – Reshetylyvka, connecting the biggest city of the region with one more mining center in Poltava is going to be rebuild.

In 2019 reconstruction of Zaporizhzhia International Airport took place. Now the carrying capacity of the passenger terminal amounts to 400 passengers per hour. The airport accommodates the flights of such international companies as LOT and Turkish Airlines.

  1. The last but not the least, this region is a hub for the following flagship enterprises of the key  industrial groups:
